WordPress, plugins and themes kept up to date
We schedule routine updates for your website's compatible components. We set up exclusions where needed, so a problematic component isn't repeatedly updated automatically while its compatibility issue remains unresolved.
Checks after each update
After updating, the system runs technical and visual checks to detect potential loading errors or unexpected changes. If our checks detect a problem, the system tries to roll back the update and alerts our team. These checks are automated: they aren't a manual review of every page or function on your website.
A human review when something goes wrong
This is primarily an automated service, but our team takes a brief look when an update fails. We check whether a retry, a small adjustment or temporarily leaving a component unchanged will be enough. If a more complex repair is needed, we explain your options before carrying out any paid work.
Stronger security and additional automated scans
We harden your WordPress security, adapting the settings to your website to avoid disrupting how it works. We also run additional scans for malware and signs that your WordPress may have been compromised.
Protection against vulnerabilities with Patchstack
Virtual patching applies protective rules against certain known vulnerabilities in plugins and themes, sometimes before the developer releases an update. It provides an extra layer of protection while a fix is on the way, not a replacement for keeping software up to date.
Malware removal included
If your website is hacked or infected with malware despite these security measures, we recover it by removing the malware or restoring an earlier, clean backup, depending on what's possible.

WebMonster Care doesn't include performance optimisation, proactive outage response or extended support for any WordPress issue. You do, however, keep the specialist WordPress support already included with your hosting.

Questions you might have
Can I use WebMonster Care if my website is hosted elsewhere?
No. WebMonster Care is available exclusively for WordPress installations hosted on WebMonster's WordPress Cloud Hosting or Business Cloud Hosting. The price of WebMonster Care does not include hosting.
I have several websites on my subscription. Does one purchase cover them all?
No. WebMonster Care is purchased separately for each live WordPress installation you want maintained. You can add it to one, several or all your websites. Associated staging environments aren't charged as additional websites, although testing updates in staging isn't included in WebMonster Care by default.
How is this different from enabling WordPress automatic updates?
When you enable automatic updates, WordPress can update without supervision. Something could break your website without you noticing, and without a recovery plan in place.
WebMonster Care takes a backup before starting, runs technical and visual checks after updating, attempts a rollback if something fails and provides a monthly report. It also includes a review by our team when the update process fails, WordPress-specific security measures and malware removal.
WebMonster Care is more than switching on an option in WordPress, but it isn't comprehensive manual maintenance either.
How often is my website updated?
Updates generally run weekly. Some urgent updates may need to be applied sooner, and some components may be temporarily excluded from an update.
What if an update breaks something?
If our checks detect a problem, the system tries to roll back the update and alerts our team. If needed, we take a brief look to see whether a retry or a simple adjustment would help.
Not every error can be detected or reversed automatically. If a fix involves custom development, a complex compatibility issue to investigate or more time than the service includes, we'll explain the paid options before carrying out that work.
Do you check that forms, purchases and bookings work?
The automated checks review certain technical and visual aspects, but they don't comprehensively test every business process.
Online shops, membership sites and other websites with critical operations may need additional measures or a more comprehensive service. If that sounds like your website, we recommend looking at WebMonster Managed.
Are my plugin and theme licences included?
No. You need to keep the relevant licences active so your commercial plugins and themes can receive updates. WebMonster Care does include the Patchstack protection described in the service.
Do you update PHP too?
Yes. We handle PHP version upgrades for your website when appropriate. Keeping WordPress, plugins and themes up to date makes upgrading to modern PHP versions easier, but some components can still have compatibility issues.
If we find a problem that prevents a PHP upgrade, we'll explain what's happening and what's needed to resolve it. Repairs outside the scope of WebMonster Care are quoted separately before work begins.
What if my website already has problems when I sign up?
WebMonster Care doesn't include fixing existing errors or bringing old installations up to date where complex manual work is needed. If we find that your website needs this work before we can start, we'll explain it and quote for it separately.
Does WebMonster Care add more backups?
Yes. In addition to the backups included with your hosting, we take an extra daily WordPress backup through our WebMonster Care system.
WebMonster manages these backups; you can't restore them directly from your control panel. They support our updates and provide an alternative recovery option in an emergency. Your usual hosting backups remain available as before.
Does WebMonster Care include cleaning a hacked website?
Yes. If your site becomes infected while your service is active, we remove the malware by cleaning the installation or restoring a suitable backup, depending on the situation.
If restoring a backup could overwrite recent changes, we'll explain this and ask for your permission first. Infections that existed before you signed up require separate work.
Does this change the support included with my hosting?
You keep the support included in your WCH or BCH plan. WebMonster Care adds work relating to its updates and the included malware removal.
It doesn't add extra priority, separate response times or continuous human monitoring of your website.
